FLORIDA — A 3-year-old child has died after being struck by a pickup truck in a driveway in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the incident occurred just before 4 p.m. Sunday at a residence in the county. According to investigators, the vehicle was reversing out of the driveway when it collided with the child, who was behind the truck.
Emergency crews with Marion County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the child dead.
Authorities have not released additional details about those involved or the circumstances leading up to the incident.
The crash remains under active investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Officials said more information will be released as it becomes available.
