SOUTH CAROLINA — A 16-year-old Laurens County teen has died following a motorcycle crash while being pursued by Oconee County deputies on Saturday night.

Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis identified the teen as Olivia Morgan Sanchez of Gray Court. The pursuit began when deputies attempted to stop Sanchez on Clemson Boulevard for speeding, not having a tag, and failure to maintain her lane.

According to the coroner and the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Sanchez was traveling west on Sheep Farm Road near Brook Lane at around 11:30 p.m. and attempted to evade law enforcement. Her motorcycle left the roadway, struck an embankment, and hit a tree.

Sanchez, who was wearing a helmet, was the sole operator of the motorcycle. She was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where she died Sunday night. The cause of death was blunt force trauma, and her death has been ruled an accident.

Sanchez was a student at Laurens High School.
