TEXAS — A 32-year-old man died early Sunday morning after a fight escalated into a shooting in Arlington, according to police.
The Arlington Police Department said officers responded around 4:29 a.m. to the 1200 block of California Lane for reports of a shooting at an event venue.
When officers arrived, they found multiple shell casings at the scene. Investigators said witnesses reported a physical altercation had taken place before someone opened fire.
Shortly after the call, staff at Medical City Arlington notified police that a man had arrived at the emergency room with a gunshot wound. Authorities determined the victim had been shot at the California Lane location and was transported to the hospital by friends. He later died from his injuries.
Police said no arrests have been made, and detectives are working to identify the suspect and determine a motive.
The victim’s name will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office after next of kin are notified.
