PENNSYLVANIA — One person has died after a canoe was found overturned in a pond in Indiana County Saturday evening, according to emergency officials.
Crews from multiple agencies were dispatched just after 6:45 p.m. to the area of Nashville Road for reports of a water rescue and a missing person. Officials said the canoe had been discovered overturned in the pond.
According to the Marion Center Volunteer Fire Department, the property owner had been reported missing earlier in the day. The individual was last seen around 4:15 p.m.
Search efforts included the use of sonar equipment and an underwater drone by crews from the Elk Run Volunteer Fire Company and other responding agencies.
Authorities said the individual’s body was recovered from the pond around 10 p.m.
No additional details about the victim have been released. The incident remains under investigation.
