ILLINOIS — A 43-year-old man died Sunday afternoon after his motorized bicycle collided with an SUV, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 4:11 p.m. at the intersection of Harmon and Voorhees Streets. Danville Deputy Police Chief Joshua Webb said the man was severely injured and later pronounced dead at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center.

A preliminary investigation by the Danville Police Department, with assistance from the Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Team, found that the victim was traveling north on Harmon Street and failed to yield at a stop sign. His motorized bicycle struck the passenger-side door of an eastbound SUV. The SUV driver was not injured.

The victim’s name has not been released; the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office will release it once the family is notified.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Danville Police Department at 217-431-2250.
