
PENNSYLVANIA — A juvenile riding a scooter was killed after being struck by a van on New Year’s Eve in Lancaster County, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.
State police said the crash occurred around 6 p.m. on Churchtown Road south of Mast Road in Salisbury Township. Investigators determined that a Dodge Caravan traveling south on Churchtown Road struck a juvenile male riding a scooter from behind.
The impact caused the rider to be thrown from the scooter, and he came to rest along the edge of the roadway. The juvenile was transported to Reading Hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities have not released the victim’s name or age. The Dodge Caravan was towed from the scene as part of the investigation.
Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
