
PENNSYLVANIA — An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was struck and killed early Thursday morning on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Carbon County.
According to the Carbon County Coroner’s Office, a man was hit by a vehicle around 4:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the turnpike in Franklin Township near Lehighton. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.
The crash is being investigated by the Carbon County District Attorney’s Office and the Pennsylvania State Police Pocono Station. Officials have not said what led to the pedestrian being on the roadway.
The investigation remains ongoing.
