TEXAS — A man was killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle on the North Freeway, according to authorities.
The crash occurred around 4 a.m. near the intersection of Interstate 45 and the 610 North Loop, shutting down all inbound lanes for several hours. The roadway reopened around 8 a.m.
Investigators said a 51-year-old man had parked his Cadillac on the right shoulder facing the wrong direction before getting out of the vehicle and running toward the HOV lane.
Police said a woman driving a Honda in the second lane struck the man.
Authorities said the driver remained at the scene, showed no signs of impairment, and cooperated with investigators.
Officials said it remains unclear why the man exited his vehicle or why it was facing the wrong way.
The incident remains under investigation.
