VIRGINIA — A woman was killed early Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle on the Dulles Toll Road, according to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) Police.
The crash was first reported around 2 a.m. near the Herndon/Chantilly exit at mile marker 2.2 on westbound VA-267.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was transported to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Authorities closed westbound lanes of the Dulles Toll Road past Exit 11 for several hours as they investigated the crash. All lanes reopened to traffic by 9:30 a.m.
Officials have not released details about what led to the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
