VIRGINIA — A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle early Monday morning in Chesapeake, according to police.
Officers with the Chesapeake Police Department responded around 5:51 a.m. to the area of South George Washington Highway and Sawyers Arch after receiving reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.
When officers arrived, they found a man who had been hit by a vehicle and was suffering from serious injuries. Emergency medical crews transported the man to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police said the man later died from his injuries.
The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, authorities said.
Officials have not released the identity of the victim or additional details about what led up to the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
