VIRGINIA — A 40-year-old Bedford woman was killed Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Bedford County, Virginia State Police said.
Stacee Lee LaClair of Bedford died at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 7:02 a.m. on Oct. 5 on West Lynchburg Turnpike, just west of Wheatland Road.
Police said LaClair was walking in the road when a GMC Yukon traveling west in the right lane attempted to avoid her by merging into the left lane. LaClair also moved into the left lane and was struck by the vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation.
