One person dead after being struck by vehicle in Tennessee

TENNESSEE — A man was killed early Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in South Nashville, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Murfreesboro Pike.

Police say the man, believed to be 63 years old, was crossing the road between the intersections of Murfreesboro Pike and Plus Park Drive and Murfreesboro Pike and Spence Lane when he was hit by a Ford Escape.

Authorities noted that crosswalks are present at both nearby intersections.

The pedestrian was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, police said.

The Medical Examiner’s Office is working to confirm the identity of the victim. The investigation is ongoing.
