NORTH CAROLINA — A 67-year-old man was killed Saturday night after being struck by a car on N. Patterson Avenue, police said.
Authorities identified the victim as Reginald Carson. Investigators said Carson was hanging onto a passenger through the window of a southbound vehicle when the car slowed down, causing him to fall into the northbound lanes.
A second driver, who did not see Carson, struck him, resulting in his death. Police have not explained why Carson was hanging onto the passenger, and no charges have been filed.
The Winston-Salem Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement unit is investigating. It is unclear if anyone else was injured.
