MARYLAND — A man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning on Largo Road (MD-202), and police are searching for the driver involved.

Maryland State Police say the incident occurred around 6:20 a.m. near the intersection of Largo Road and Wood Branch Court.

Troopers responded to the scene and found a pedestrian, later identified as 43-year-old Leroy Wedge of Upper Marlboro, who had been struck while attempting to cross the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver did not remain at the scene, and investigators believe the vehicle involved may be a 2012–2014 GMC Terrain or Chevrolet Equinox.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack at 301-345-3101.
