One person dead after being struck by vehicle in Kentucky

KENTUCKY — A 63-year-old woman died Thursday evening after being struck by a car while walking her dog, according to Covington police.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of West Pike Street around 7:20 p.m. and found the woman, identified as Krista Mary Wilmink of Covington, with life-threatening injuries. She was taken to UC Medical Center, where she later died.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No charges have been filed.

Investigators do not believe alcohol was involved but are working to determine if speed played a role.

The crash remains under investigation.
