KENTUCKY — A Covington woman has died after being struck by a vehicle while walking her dog Thursday evening.
According to the Covington Police Department, officers responded to the 1300 block of West Pike Street around 7:20 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian hit by a car. When emergency crews arrived, they found 63-year-old Krista Mary Wilmink suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Wilmink was transported to UC Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries. Police said she was walking her dog at the time of the crash. The dog was not injured, according to family members.
The driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges have been filed at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.
West Pike Street was closed for several hours Thursday evening as police processed the scene but has since reopened.
