INDIANA — A woman was killed early Sunday morning in a crash on Indianapolis’ south side, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Officers responded just before 4 a.m. Oct. 19 to the 8100 block of Shelby Street, near East Stop 11 Road and US 31, following reports of a personal injury accident. Upon arrival, police found a woman who had been struck by a vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Police said the vehicle that hit the pedestrian remained on the scene.
Preliminary information indicates the car was traveling southbound when it struck the woman. A second car, heading northbound, then collided with the first vehicle and fled the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
