GEORGIA — The Hinesville Police Department is investigating a fatal crash after a pedestrian was struck and killed early Saturday morning.
According to police, 52-year-old Hughey Hoak was attempting to cross Highway 196 near Frozen Paradise around 1 a.m. when he was hit by a dark-colored truck or SUV.
The vehicle left the scene after the collision but was later found abandoned and has been secured as evidence.
The department’s Traffic Accident Investigation Unit is handling the case. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Hinesville Police Department at (912) 368-8211.
