FLORIDA — A 20-year-old man from New York City died early Friday after being struck by two SUVs on Interstate 95 in Flagler County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Troopers responded to the scene near mile marker 289 in Palm Coast shortly after 3 a.m. FHP said the man was initially standing on the outside shoulder of the northbound lanes when, for unknown reasons, he walked into the roadway.
A Nissan Rogue and a Ford Edge traveling in the outside lane both struck the pedestrian. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released his name.
The drivers of both vehicles, one from Virginia and the other from Pennsylvania, were not injured.
The crash caused significant delays on I-95 northbound, with all lanes reopening by 9 a.m. The incident remains under investigation.
