FLORIDA — A woman was killed Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle while walking along US-192, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Troopers responded to the scene shortly before 5 p.m. near the intersection of US-192 and Westside Boulevard.
Investigators say the woman was walking northbound and was not in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by an eastbound 2011 Ford Fusion sedan.
FHP reports that the driver, a 45-year-old man from Clermont, attempted to swerve to avoid the collision but struck the woman. The pedestrian, a 27-year-old Kissimmee resident, was transported to a hospital where she later died from her injuries.
The driver was not injured and remained at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
