FLORIDA — A 25-year-old woman was killed Friday after a pickup truck crashed in Cocoa Village, according to the Cocoa Police Department.
Police said a 64-year-old man driving a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 suffered a medical emergency, which led to the crash on Brevard Avenue. Investigators said the truck struck two pedestrians before crashing into the Cocoa Village Playhouse.
Witnesses told police the truck clipped the sidewalk and hit the pedestrians before continuing into the building. Officers and Cocoa Fire Rescue responded to the scene and found the woman unresponsive on the ground. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The male pedestrian who was with her was not injured and declined medical treatment, police said. The driver was also taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Brevard Avenue remained closed between State Road 520 and Harrison Street as traffic homicide investigators continued to document the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
