FLORIDA — The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash on Silver Star Road.
The incident happened when a pedestrian stepped into the eastbound lanes near Le Havre Boulevard, where a 2003 Honda Accord struck the individual, troopers said. The driver of the Honda pulled over and began helping the pedestrian who had been hit.
Moments later, a second vehicle failed to stop and struck both the pedestrian and the Accord driver, according to investigators. Witnesses told troopers the second driver got out to inspect his car, then drove away without rendering aid.
The hit-and-run vehicle is believed to be a blue Chevy Malibu with front-end damage and a missing driver-side mirror. Witnesses described the driver as an adult Black male wearing a black hoodie.
The pedestrian was later pronounced dead at a hospital. The Honda driver suffered minor injuries.
