NORTH CAROLINA — A person was killed Tuesday night after being struck by an Amtrak train in Rowan County, authorities said.
The collision occurred just before 9 p.m. on Nov. 18 on the tracks behind Pinnacle Way Drive in Landis, near Highway 29.
Town officials confirmed the train hit a person who was reportedly walking on the tracks.
Video from the scene showed the train stopped with several law enforcement vehicles nearby. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said the medical examiner was working to confirm the identity of the deceased.
