KENTUCKY — A man died early Tuesday after being shot outside his home in Campbell County, according to police.
Officers responded around 3:45 a.m. to a residence in the 7000 block of Kohls Road in Melbourne for a report of a possible burglary. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot on the front porch of the home.
The victim, identified as Jared Strup Sr., was transported to UC Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
Campbell County police are investigating the shooting in coordination with the Campbell County Special Investigation Response Team, the Campbell County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and other agencies.
Authorities have not released information about a possible suspect.
Police said preliminary information indicates the shooting was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains ongoing.
