
FLORIDA — A man died Saturday afternoon after being pulled unresponsive from the water near the Americano Beach Lodge, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred around 12:40 p.m. in the area of Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway and Zelda Boulevard. Despite lifesaving efforts, the man was pronounced dead after being brought to shore.
Authorities said the man was found unresponsive in the water. Beach Safety is typically the first to respond to water rescues, drownings, and medical emergencies along the coast, though deputies also assist in such incidents.
The identity of the man has not been released.
