
OHIO — One person was critically injured during an assault on a Central Ohio Transit Authority bus in Columbus on Wednesday evening.
Columbus police were called around 5:40 p.m. to a report of a fight on a COTA bus in east Columbus. When officers arrived, they found an adult victim who had reportedly been assaulted by another passenger.
The victim was taken to a Columbus hospital with life-threatening injuries. Due to the severity of those injuries, the Columbus Division of Police Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.
Police said the suspect, 54-year-old Robert Salley, knew the victim. Salley was taken into custody near the scene and booked into the Franklin County Jail on a felonious assault charge.
