
KENTUCKY — A traffic stop Saturday evening in Metcalfe County led to the arrest of a man on multiple drug and driving charges.
According to the Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped a pickup truck traveling south on KY 1243 in Knob Lick after observing the vehicle being driven carelessly.
The driver, identified as 62-year-old Ronald D. Poynter, showed signs of impairment when the deputy made contact with him, authorities said.
After conducting field sobriety tests, Poynter was arrested for driving under the influence.
During the investigation, deputies reported finding suspected methamphetamine, prescription-controlled substances, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in Poynter’s possession.
Poynter was taken to a local hospital for a toxicology examination before being lodged at the Barren County Detention Center.
He faces several charges, including possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (unspecified), trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI and careless driving.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
