GEORGIA — A high-speed chase early Sunday morning ended in Tifton with the arrest of a suspect found carrying drugs and contraband, according to the Pearson Police Department (PPD).
Authorities say the incident began around 3 a.m. when police were alerted about a suspect headed toward Pearson.
A Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) K9 unit identified the suspect en route to Ware State Prison to drop off contraband.
A PPD officer on duty spotted the vehicle entering Pearson city limits at 118 mph and initiated a pursuit.
Despite the officer activating emergency lights and sirens, the driver refused to stop, leading police on a chase through multiple jurisdictions.
The pursuit ended in Tifton when the suspect lost control and crashed into another vehicle.
After the crash, the suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended without further incident.
Police identified the driver as Taquez Emntrae Moore.
A search of his vehicle revealed two duffel bags containing various items, including:
Authorities also confirmed that Moore had outstanding warrants for felony fleeing and attempting to elude, as well as felony reckless driving.
PPD has not released further details at this time.
