OHIO — A 32-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly holding a child underwater until he stopped breathing, according to Ashtabula police.

Authorities say Joshua Maynard was taken into custody on March 12 following an incident involving a 7-year-old child.

Police allege Maynard submerged the child, causing him to become unresponsive. The child was revived after CPR.

He is currently being held in the Ashtabula City Jail on a $500,000 bond.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
