OHIO — The Macedonia Police Department is recognizing the efforts of Dispatchers Alita Fratantonio and Jessica Becker, along with Patrolman Nick Szaibel and Sergeant Mike Plesz, for their quick response in safely recovering a stolen vehicle with a three-month-old infant inside.

On January 24 at 4:31 p.m., the Macedonia 911 Communications Center received a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert from the Ohio State Highway Patrol regarding a stolen vehicle out of Stark County.

The car, which contained the infant, had last been seen on I-77 North and was believed to be headed toward Cleveland.

Dispatchers immediately relayed the information to Ptl. Szaibel, who located the vehicle traveling northbound on I-271.

He remained nearby until Sgt. Plesz arrived, and together, they coordinated a traffic stop.

The driver was taken into custody without incident, and the infant was found safe.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, where the child’s mother was reunited with the infant, and the suspect was taken into custody.

The Macedonia Police Department commended the officers and dispatchers for their professionalism and teamwork in ensuring a safe resolution.
