One person arrested in connection to deadly Michigan shooting incident

MICHIGAN — A 46-year-old Ferry Township woman was arrested early Friday in connection with a fatal shooting in Oceana County, authorities said.

According to the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, deputies took the woman into custody around 1 a.m. and lodged her at the county jail. She has not yet been arraigned.

The incident occurred just before 7:15 a.m. Thursday, when a 911 caller reported a man had been shot at a home in the 4000 block of E. Buchanan Road. Responding deputies and Michigan State Police troopers found a 46-year-old Shelby man with gunshot wounds. He died from his injuries.

Officials said there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The sheriff’s office thanked multiple agencies for assisting in the investigation, including Michigan State Police – Hart Post and Grand Rapids Crime Lab, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Ludington Police Department, DHS Child Protective Services, Lakeshore Child Advocacy Center, the Sheriff’s Victims Services Unit, Life EMS, Ferry Township Fire Department, and Mason-Oceana 911.
