NORTH CAROLINA — A 32-year-old woman was arrested Saturday after allegedly taking a vehicle without permission, authorities reported.
Officials said the incident occurred when Bernice Williams, a passenger in a vehicle, slid into the driver’s seat and drove off after the owner had parked and exited the car.
Kinston Police officers later located the vehicle and Williams on Savannah Lane and arrested her without incident. The vehicle was returned to its owner.
Williams was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and taken to the Lenoir County Jail, where she was held without bond due to being on pretrial release at the time of the offense.
