ALABAMA — The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office says dozens of stolen items were recovered Thursday evening after deputies arrested a man in Ardmore.
Around 7:30 p.m., Deputy Nick Gibson spotted a vehicle with a switched license plate near Highway 251 and Bethel Road. When the driver, identified as 36-year-old Brandon Oneal Mitchell of Ardmore, noticed the deputy, he parked and ran from the scene, according to investigators.
After a brief chase, deputies said Mitchell resisted arrest but was safely taken into custody. A search of the vehicle uncovered three catalytic converters, burglary tools, and drug paraphernalia.
Mitchell was arrested on outstanding warrants for first- and fourth-degree theft. He is also facing several new charges, including:
- 9 counts of possession of burglars’ tools
- 3 counts of unlawful possession or acquisition of a catalytic converter
- Obstructing governmental operations
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Resisting arrest
- Driving while license suspended/revoked
- Switched tag
Mitchell is being held at the Limestone County Detention Facility. Deputies said more charges could be added as the investigation continues.
The Sheriff’s Office is urging Ardmore-area residents who recently had a catalytic converter stolen to contact investigators at (256) 232-0111, as recovered property may belong to them.
