One person arrested for stealing car during test drive in Mississippi

MISSISSIPPI — A Gulfport man is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing a car during a test drive and kidnapping the dealership employee.

Reginald Donovan Johnson, 33, is charged with armed robbery, armed carjacking, and kidnapping.

Authorities said Johnson posed as a customer on Monday, Sept. 8, and during the test drive brandished a weapon, kidnapped the employee, and forced them to drive to a separate location.

Police said Johnson also stole the victim’s phone at gunpoint, forced the employee out of the car, and fled in the stolen vehicle. Officers later tracked and arrested him.

Johnson was taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where a judge set his bond at $1,500,000.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Gulfport Police Department at 228-868-5959 or Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
