OHIO — An 18-year-old Cleveland man has been indicted for the murders of two teenagers in Slavic Village, according to court records.
A Cuyahoga County grand jury indicted Phoenix Brown on multiple charges, including aggravated murder, in connection with the deaths of 17-year-old Khalyn White and 16-year-old Julius Barron, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley announced Thursday.
The case began on Jan. 12, when a Kia Soul was reported stolen near Lee Road and Harvard Avenue.
Two days later, around 1 a.m. on Jan. 14, Cleveland Police, EMS, and Fire responded to a crash involving the stolen Kia, which had collided with a utility pole near Warner Road and Jeffries Avenue.
According to authorities, Brown fled the scene on foot but was quickly apprehended by police. Officers reported that he was covered in blood.
Inside the vehicle, police discovered White and Barron, both suffering from gunshot wounds to the head. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Brown has been indicted on the following charges:
