NORTH CAROLINA — A Beaufort County man is facing multiple charges after state investigators uncovered a dogfighting operation in Burton last month, authorities said.
According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), 30-year-old Justinn Moultrie has been charged with nine counts of animal fighting and nine counts of ill treatment of animals.
His arrest follows an August 11 raid by the SLED Dogfighting Unit, during which 54-year-old Spencer Lamont Moultrie was also taken into custody.
Investigators said they seized nine adult dogs and one puppy, along with equipment believed to be used in dogfighting. Officials reported that nine of the dogs had scar patterns consistent with organized dogfighting.
SLED agents arrested Justinn Moultrie on Tuesday. The investigation remains ongoing.
