One person arrested for breaking into Ohio grocery store, gas station

OHIO — Law enforcement responded to a pair of weekend break-ins that appear to be linked, resulting in one arrest and an ongoing search for additional suspects.

On Saturday, March 29, officers from the West Liberty Police Department and Logan County Sheriff’s Office were called to Thoman’s IGA after a breaking and entering complaint.

According to authorities, suspects dressed in dark clothing, gloves, and face masks forced their way into the store using a hammer and yellow crowbar, shattering two glass entrance doors.

Surveillance footage captured the suspects stealing an undisclosed amount of money from the business.

The investigation quickly expanded with assistance from the Bellefontaine Police Department.

Officers were able to identify one of the suspects, connecting them to a broader multi-county theft operation in central Ohio. Arrest warrants were issued, and a coordinated search began.

The following day, deputies were dispatched to another break-in at the West Mansfield Marathon Gas Station.

The suspects—again wearing similar clothing and using the same tools—forced entry and took cash and other valuables. Investigators quickly linked the two crimes due to the striking similarities.

On Monday, authorities located and arrested the first suspect in Franklin County after gathering additional information, including details about a second suspect vehicle.

The investigation remains active as law enforcement works to confirm the identity of a second suspect. Further charges are expected across multiple jurisdictions.
