KENTUCKY — A two-vehicle crash in McCracken County on Friday night led to the arrest of one of the drivers, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency crews responded shortly after 8 p.m. on April 25 to the intersection of U.S. Highway 68 and Kentucky Dam Road, where a car and an SUV had collided. Injuries were reported at the scene.
Investigators said the crash occurred when a car struck an SUV driven by 55-year-old Tara Cornett of Paducah.
Cornett was taken by ambulance to a Paducah hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
Witnesses told deputies the driver of the car left the scene on foot. A short time later, authorities found the suspected driver, 52-year-old Tracy Youngblood of Paducah, lying in the middle of Stiles Road near Cindy Drive. Youngblood was also transported to a hospital for non-incapacitating injuries.
According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation revealed Youngblood was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
After being cleared by the hospital, Youngblood was arrested and booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail on charges including operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, criminal mischief first-degree, wanton endangerment first-degree, leaving the scene of an accident-failure to render aid, failure to produce an insurance card, and possession of marijuana.
The crash remains under investigation.
