NORTH CAROLINA — A Sherrills Ford man has been arrested following a break-in and theft at a Morganton bicycle shop earlier this month, according to the Morganton Department of Public Safety.

Sourachay Mysayakhom faces multiple charges, including breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen property, and motor vehicle theft.

The investigation began on Monday, July 7, when officers responded to a reported break-in at Overmountain Cycles on North Green Street.

Police say the suspect forced entry through the back of the building using a chainsaw. The business owner reported several items stolen.

Investigators later identified Mysayakhom as the suspect and tracked some of the stolen items to a pawn shop in Cherokee. U.S. Park Rangers located Mysayakhom in a vehicle reported stolen from Morganton and recovered additional stolen property from inside the car.

Morganton authorities traveled to Cherokee to process the vehicle and collect evidence.

Mysayakhom is currently being held at the Cherokee County Detention Facility. He is scheduled to appear in Burke County District Court on Monday, July 14. The investigation is ongoing.
