PENNSYLVANIA — A man is in custody following an overnight SWAT situation in Pittsburgh’s South Oakland neighborhood that led to evacuations and a street closure.
Police were initially called to the 3200 block of Juliet Street around 7:30 p.m. Monday to serve an outstanding warrant, according to authorities. The situation escalated when the suspect barricaded himself inside a home.
Multiple police officers and SWAT team members responded to the scene, blocking off Juliet Street to traffic. Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.
At about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, officials confirmed that the man had exited the home and was taken into custody. His identity has not been released.
Police have not released additional details about the warrant or the circumstances surrounding the barricade. The investigation is ongoing.
