GEORGIA — A man wanted for questioning in connection with an aggravated assault investigation was taken into custody Thursday evening after the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office activated its SWAT Team.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies went to the 900 block of Horseshoe Road around 6:08 p.m. to locate the individual, identified as Ricky Lee Mander.
When deputies arrived, they saw Mander run into a residence in the 900 block of Horseshoe Road. Authorities said deputies were unsure whether Mander was armed or if anyone else was inside the home with him. Deputies secured the perimeter and attempted to make contact with Mander but were unable to reach him.
Due to the uncertainty of the situation and the potential threat to nearby residents, the sheriff’s office activated the SWAT Team.
Authorities said the SWAT Team entered the residence through the front door and took Mander into custody without incident at about 7:15 p.m. The residence was then cleared, and officials reported that no injuries occurred during the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials said additional charges may be filed. More information will be released as it becomes available.
