SOUTH CAROLINA — A man was arrested early Saturday morning following a standoff with deputies in Pickens County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies with the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office responded around 1:59 a.m. to the 100 block of Province Lane in Pickens for a reported domestic violence incident.

Authorities said deputies determined a domestic violence situation had occurred and were able to safely remove the victim from the home during the incident.

The suspect, identified as John Caleb Zachariah Davis, refused to exit the residence, leading to a standoff that lasted about an hour, officials said. Davis was taken into custody shortly before 4 a.m.

He was booked into the Pickens County Detention Center on charges of domestic violence and kidnapping and is being held without bond.

The incident remains under investigation.
