INDIANA — A man was arrested Thursday following a standoff that lasted several hours in Wayne County, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and officers from the Hagerstown Police Department arrived at a home in the 16000 block of State Road 38 to serve an arrest warrant for Joshua Curbeaux.
Authorities said Curbeaux was wanted on multiple charges, including neglect of a dependent, failure to appear on a domestic battery charge, battery on a public safety official, and resisting law enforcement.
When officers attempted to arrest Curbeaux, he briefly stepped outside but then retreated into the home and refused to come out.
Negotiators attempted to persuade him to surrender, but he did not comply. The Indiana State Police SWAT Team was called in to assist.
After approximately two hours of negotiation, Curbeaux surrendered without further incident. No injuries were reported.
State Road 38 was closed for two hours during the standoff but has since reopened.
