OHIO — A tense, hours-long standoff at a Butler County hotel ended Saturday afternoon with the arrest of an armed suspect, according to West Chester police.
Authorities responded to the parking lot of the Quality Inn on Cincinnati Dayton Road around 11:30 p.m. Friday after receiving reports of an armed individual and a suspicious vehicle.
Several people fled the area on foot into nearby woods.
With the assistance of K9 units and drones, officers detained three individuals by 12:14 a.m. Further investigation revealed a fourth person, believed to be armed, was staying inside the hotel.
Officers attempted to make contact with the individual Saturday morning, but the suspect refused to exit the hotel room. A SWAT team was called in, and the hotel was evacuated as a precaution.
The standoff ended around 12:40 p.m. when the suspect was taken into custody without incident. Cincinnati Dayton Road, which had been closed during the standoff, has since reopened.
No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
