OHIO — One person has been arrested following a double shooting Wednesday morning outside a North Linden bar, just a half block away from where a Columbus police officer was patrolling.
According to Sergeant Joe Albert, the officer was in the 1400 block of Oakland Park Avenue investigating a possible stolen vehicle when they saw an individual drive up to the Oakland Park Bar and Grill.
The suspect allegedly fired multiple shots at the bar from the vehicle before fleeing the scene at high speed.
The officer pursued the vehicle, which crashed into a tree while attempting to drive through the median of a roundabout at Weldon Avenue and Dresden Street.
The driver, an adult male, was taken into custody and charged with felonious assault.
Police later recovered a gun along East North Broadway Street, where they believe the suspect threw it from the vehicle during the pursuit.
Additional officers responded to the bar, where a man and a woman were found injured. Both were taken to a nearby hospital and are listed in stable condition.
It remains unclear whether the victims were inside or outside the bar when they were shot. The motive for the shooting is also unknown. The Columbus Division of Police Felony Assault Unit is investigating.
