OHIO — A 35-year-old man is recovering after being shot during a fight early Saturday morning, while a 26-year-old Parma man is in custody at the Lorain County Jail.

According to the Elyria Police Department, officers responded around 2:40 a.m. to a reported shooting at a residence in the 800 block of Clark Street.

When they arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds outside the home. He was taken to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center and is listed in stable condition. Police said he has spoken with investigators.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a dispute between two women who had been out at a nearby bar.

The argument escalated, and they agreed to meet at the Clark Street residence for a physical fight. Levi Webb, 26, of Parma, drove one of the women to the location.

During the altercation, police say Webb, who was under the influence of alcohol, shot the 35-year-old man multiple times. Webb and the woman fled the scene, but officers located them in a vehicle near Chestnut Ridge Road and Abbe Road.

Both were taken to the Elyria Police Department for questioning. Officers recovered the suspected firearm near Webb’s car.

Webb was charged with felonious assault and using weapons while intoxicated. He is being held at the Lorain County Jail pending his initial court appearance.

“This was a reckless and dangerous situation that had the potential to end in far greater tragedy,” said Capt. Bill Lantz, public information officer for the Elyria Police Department.

“It serves as a stark reminder of how alcohol, poor decision-making, and firearms can create deadly circumstances. We commend our officers’ swift response to this isolated incident.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
