One person arrested following shooting and barricade incident in Virginia

VIRGINIA — A man was arrested following a shooting and barricade situation early Saturday morning in Chesterfield County.

According to Chesterfield County police, officers responded around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, to reports of a shooting in the 20500 block of Southlawn Avenue. When officers arrived, they learned that a man had gone into a residence after shots were reportedly fired.

Officers attempted to make contact with the man inside the home, but he refused to come out. Due to the circumstances, the Chesterfield County SWAT team was called to the scene. After an extended standoff, the man eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, and authorities said the situation appeared to be isolated. Officials confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the events leading up to the standoff.
