NORTH CAROLINA — A man has been arrested following a reported road rage shooting on Interstate 485 in south Charlotte, according to police.

Authorities said the incident occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday, March 21, on I-485 Inner near the South Boulevard exit.

According to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department report, a man and woman told officers their 2025 Chevrolet Trax SUV was shot during the incident, sustaining approximately $5,000 in damage.

Investigators allege the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Carson Bradford Parker, merged into traffic in a way that caused the victims to slow down and honk to avoid a collision.

According to a criminal affidavit, Parker then slowed his vehicle, pointed a gun at the victims multiple times and ultimately fired a single shot into the driver’s side of the SUV.

The victims were able to provide police with a description of the suspect’s vehicle and license plate.

Authorities said a warrant for Parker’s arrest was issued March 21, and he was taken into custody Monday, March 23.

Parker is charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and two counts of discharging a weapon into occupied property.

Officials said he was initially denied bond, but it was later set at $100,000 during a court appearance Monday in Mecklenburg County.

The case remains under investigation.
