GEORGIA — A 23-year-old Norcross man has been arrested following a road rage shooting Tuesday morning on Interstate 985, according to the Flowery Branch Police Department.

Officers were called around 7:45 a.m. to the northbound lanes near Exit 12 after reports of gunshots during a road rage incident. Police said the suspect, driving a white BMW, became angry with another driver and threw an object at the victim’s vehicle.

Investigators say the suspect then pulled out a handgun and fired at least one shot, striking the victim’s car in the passenger-side door. The shooter was last seen exiting the interstate onto Spout Springs Road.

Throughout the day, investigators developed leads and identified the suspect as Ivan Hernandez, 23, of Norcross. An arrest warrant was issued, and around 1:30 p.m., officers located Hernandez driving in the Sterling on the Lake subdivision and conducted a traffic stop.

Hernandez was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, and criminal damage to property. He was booked into the Hall County Detention Center.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
