FLORIDA — A suspected road rage incident along Interstate 95 left one man hospitalized and another person in custody Wednesday afternoon near the Palm Beach-Broward County border.
According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred around 4:30 p.m. on I-95 northbound, just south of the Palmetto Park Road exit.
Deputies said Breanna L. Evans, 26, was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder, one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle, and one count of shooting from a vehicle. Evans is being held in the Broward County Jail.
Investigators said Evans and the victim did not know each other, and the shooting appears to have stemmed from a road rage encounter. One man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Aerial footage from the scene showed multiple law enforcement vehicles surrounding a black SUV with its front passenger window shattered. The investigation shut down all northbound lanes of I-95 at Hillsboro Boulevard for several hours, causing major rush-hour traffic delays.
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.
